If you’ve been keeping an eye on my Instagram you may have noticed that I went a little foundation crazy in the beginning of March. This is for two reasons; number one, Boots were having a 3 for 2 offer and number two, I refuse to believe for any longer that I can’t find a fantastic high street (or drug store) foundation for my dull, dry, PALE skin. I’ve been road testing a couple over the last few weeks and could be ready to admit that my ‘high end snobbery’ may have been without merit.

As you can probably gather from the above sentence, I’ve never really got on with high street foundations. The truth is, I’ve never really found one that I’ve got on with. They’ve either been too drying or too orange and I find them to be a cakey mess on my skin in general. Enter Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation to revoke the stereotype.

Many will know that this is not a new product but one that has actually been kicking about for quite a while now. this seems to be the new and improved version of the original ‘Healthy Mix Foundation’ (not to be confused with the serum). I read quite a few reviews before going out and purchasing this foundation. The formula is designed to make the skin look radient and revive the wearer’s complexion. It’s packed full of natural ingredients that give that anti-fatigued look and a healthy glow without looking cakey. Now, onto my thoughts…

I’ve already implied that this could be the first high street foundation that I have loved using in over seven years. I have found the formula light weight and easy to blend. You don’t need a lot of this because it goes a heck of a long way. It didn’t dry my skin out either, which for me is probably one of the major issues I’ve have with high street foundations in the past but I guess they’ve come a long way since I last used them. I also didn’t find it cakey, it was easily buildable and gave plenty of coverage in my spot prone areas. It also has fantastic staying power and come 16 hours after applying it was still going strong. Perhaps not as polished as when first applied but definitely still putting up a good fight and covering what needed to be covered.

The main thing we should talk about however, is the colour match for the paleys of us out there. I’m using the shade 01 Light Vanilla and I’ve found it to be an excellent shade match. much closer than MAC have ever got to my skin that’s for sure and you all know how much I love my ‘Studio Fix!’ My one criticism of their shading is that there are only eight shades which is very little in comparison to some of its high end competitors but in comparison to other high street brands it fairs reasonably well.

But having said all that, the question is, would I recommend? Yes I really would and if that’s not enough to make you want to try it, if you’re a dry skinned lady like myself then Lisa Eldridge mentioned that she loves a good Boujois foundation (ok its the serum but it’s pretty damn close!!)

This promises to be a light coverage serum foundation that provides a natural, radiant finish that lasts up to 16 hours. It claims to conceal skin imperfections and signs of fatigue to give an even skin tone. The formula's enhanced with vitamin-rich litchi, pomegranate and goji extracts, designed to revive, uplift and nourish the skin.

Suitable for all skin types, it comes in six shades.

Is Bourjois Healthy Mix serum discontinued?

The French cosmetics brand — which was founded in 1863 by actor Joseph-Albert Ponsin — has fans practically in mourning after announcing in 2019 that it would be discontinued in the UK after a decline in sales. But for those Healthy Mix Foundation lovers, you've got Superdrug to thank for its return.

Is Bourjois foundation good?

It's packed full of natural ingredients that give that anti-fatigued look and a healthy glow without looking cakey. Now, onto my thoughts… I've already implied that this could be the first high street foundation that I have loved using in over seven years. I have found the formula light weight and easy to blend.

What is the difference between foundation and serum foundation?

Serum foundations offer a lightweight alternative to traditional heavy foundations, which sit on top of the skin and may clog the pores. Providing a "your skin but better" look, these foundations usually offer light to medium coverage and feel light and airy on the skin.

Is Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation good for dry skin?

This product is meant to be hydrating, so I would recommend it more to anyone with dry or normal skin. However, I really feel that with a good oily control primer and even with a good setting powder, it would work great of oily or combination skin.
