Dr. Jason Rowan and our team at Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital use integrative medicine, with a focus on preventative health, to take care of your best friend.

Our integrative approach means combining the best that allopathic (conventional) medicine and natural (alternative) medicine have to offer. Our pharmacy is stocked with everything from chemotherapy medicines to burdock root. At our hospital, we don't get hung up on standardized protocols; instead, each patient is treated as an individual, and Dr. Jason tailors his recommendations to fit your family's values and personal approach to health. He can discuss conventional approaches, natural approaches, and complimentary approaches, which combine the two.

    Comprehensive Veterinary Services

    Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine

Dr. Jason Rowan is a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, and studied in Beijing China. Acupuncture is often used in combination with Traditional Chinese herbal medicine, and is an effective approach for back, spinal and nerve, gastrointestinal, mobility, pain and many other pet health issues.

    Acute / Urgent Care

Our full-service veterinary hospital provides urgent care for acute health issues, such as accidents, injuries and emerging illnesses. We offer conventional and alternative treatments, and diagnostic tools such as radiography, lab work, ultrasound.

    Cannabis Education

Veterinarians in British Columbia are not allowed to prescribe cannabis; however we do support pet parents with cannabis education so they can make the best decisions for their pets. Dr. Jason Rowan has taken cannabis-specific continuing education.

    Chiropractic Care

Chiropractor Dr. Pam Carlson see patients in tandem with the veterinarian. Chiropractic care is effective approach for mobility, pain, instability, improper urination, and other pet health issues. Dr. Pam also treats sport dogs for optimal health and performance.

    Chronic Illness & Ongoing Care

At our hospital, we provide comprehensive care for chronic illnesses, such as kidney disease, diabetes, allergies, Cushing's disease, heart issues, neurological challenges, hormone issues, cancer and more. Complicated cases are offered conventional and holistic treatment options as appropriate.

    Complementary Care for Cancer

For patients across the province, Dr. Jason Rowan works in collaboration with your primary care veterinarian and/or oncologist to provide supportive holistic therapies (Traditional Chinese medicine, herbs and nutrition) for cancer patients. Telemedicine appointments are available.

    Consultations & Extended Consultations

We understand invested pet parents often need extended time with the veterinarian. Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital not only offers standard consultations, but lengthier appointments to deal with complex issues and comprehensive treatment plans.

    Dentistry & Teeth Care

Dental procedure estimates are always free at Pandosy Village Veterinary Hospital. After this initial examination, we offer fixed price dentistry, including bloodwork, IV fluids, digital radiography, pain medication with the dental procedure.

    Nutritional Consultations

Food is not only preventative medicine, it can be used to treat a variety of illnesses. We support pet parents with recipes and supplementation to cook, or prepare raw food at home, and choose the best off-the-shelf foods. Extended nutritional consultations with the veterinarian are available.

    Radiology, Laboratory & Ultrasound

Our veterinary hospital has digital (dental and general) radiography, and Dr. Jason Rowan is certified in OFA and PennHip assessments. Our in-house laboratory includes blood and urine testing, including tick and titre testing. Ultrasound diagnostics are provided by Dr. Darcy Rae in our hospital.

    Spay/Neuter & Other Surgeries

Spay and neuter surgeries include pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV fluids and pain medication, at fixed prices. We also perform many other soft tissue surgeries, including mass removals, cherry eye repair and more.

    Vaccinations & Titre Testing

There is no standard approach at our clinic; we get to know your family's needs (travel, kennelling, lifestyle) before recommending any vaccinations or preventative pharmaceutical care. We test for disease immunity (titre tests) for adult dogs and cats, then only revaccinate if necessary..

A peaceful place for animals & their people to unwind and heal

I’ve developed my style with the understanding that animals respond to this work when you take time to build trust. Hour-long followup treatments and 90-minute initial visits help with that, as does the hands-on work. It helps calm the animal so we can take the next step – acupuncture! Clients are often surprised to see how well their animals respond to the needles. We dim the lights, sit, and get quiet. I often play relaxing music while the animals breathing changes, muscles let out little spasms of tension, and then hopefully they put their head down and relax. Sometimes this happens right away, and sometimes it takes time. Luckily, patience is one of my superpowers!

This work is great for all things musculoskeletal – arthritis, IVDD, FCEs, hip dysplasia, post (and pre!) surgery, spinal paralysis, and an all-too-common one – neck & back spasms. Running a little current through the needles with electro-acupuncture can really benefit these dogs & cats too. Anxiety and aggression cases are challenging, but this work has something to offer animals with emotional problems. I’ve had several aggressive cats receive one session only to return home where the household dynamic is refreshed with fights no more. Anxious dogs start to drop their anxiety levels, and we discuss proven training methods for addressing this in treatment. Lots of digestive issues can be resolved with herbs, supplements, diet, and treatment. I use the best, Evergreen herbs and Standard Process supplements.

Supporting animals who are receiving chemotherapy has proven very beneficial. Dermatological issues are tough, but traditional Chinese medicine has something to offer. I have a “Trauma Package” for serious cases that includes a 2-hour initial (or followup) treatment  and two 90-minute treatments for the most serious cases like spinal paralysis, “hit by car”, etc. Hopefully your animal will never require this kind of care, but if they do, this plan gets a jumpstart at treating their condition. All of this work is beneficial when, and only when, clients have taken their animals to receive a thorough work up by a Veterinarian. We’ve got to rule out conditions that would benefit from a procedure or some much needed medication. As a Chinese medicine practitioner, it’s helpful to have a working western diagnosis.

Your animal must be seeing a Veterinarian in order to get this kind of care. If your animal does not have a Vet and you need an evaluation, at this time Dr. Frye, DVM of our “West End Animal Center” is NOT AVAILABLE to see new patients so you will have to call around looking for a Veterinarian. Please let us know if you are needing this care, and the front desk can schedule an evaluation before their treatment. Feel free to call or email with questions or to schedule a session – 415.721.7494. Look forward to working with you!

    Welcome New Clients!!!

We ask that you please have the most recent medical records from your Veterinarian(s) sent to us. Let them know they can email records to . We need the most relavent and recent records, not necessarily complete records. As many Veterinary offices require this request directly from the animal’s persons, you will need to ensure we have your animals records prior to the initial visit. Also, to help ensure your dogs comfort during their session, take them on a short walk to relieve themselves prior to their treatment. Thank you for assisting with this and I look forward to working with you!
