While some games have more powerful requirements than this GPU, the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB is only really challenged by the most demanding games released today, but normally it is more than capable of running games with a stable frame rate at 1080p.
All games with system requirements of DirectX 12 or lower are met by this card.
We take a look at game performance achieved on this graphics card when running 2024 popular games. This short Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB game hardware review looks at the graphics card frame rate performance on Ultra graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. In comparison to the game recommended requirements of the 1000 most demanding games played today this PC hardware can run 736.
The 1080p FPS on Ultra for the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB shows us that Battlefield 2042 is getting a weak result of 22 FPS, and then we are seeing Back 4 Blood returning a reasonable 49 FPS while another game on our list is the Far Cry 6 which is getting 31 frames per second at Ultra 1080p.
As the PC gaming masses explore larger screen resolutions we decided to run some game checks at 1440p across a few popular games. We discovered the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB ran Back 4 Blood to a playable performance level. Results across the graphics settings looked like this, Low: 98 FPS, Medium: 77 FPS, High: 52 FPS and Ultra: 37 FPS. Another game tested was Far Cry 6, L: 62FPS, M: 49FPS, H: 33FPS, U: 24FPS. And then we checked graphics card performance on Battlefield 2042, which returned L: 44FPS, M: 35FPS, H: 23FPS, U: 17FPS at 1440p. Running games at 1440p with a Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB is a reasonable choice for most modern games at 1440p, but you may encounter some need to adjust graphics settings down from Ultra to High in some cases to improve gaming stability.
How many years will the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB graphics card play newly released games and how long until you should consider upgrading the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB in your PC? No graphics card upgrade required for around 2 years
Whats a good PC graphics upgrade for the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB? There are no graphics cards on the current market that would provide a big enough increase in performance to warrant upgrading the Radeon RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB.
The AMD RX 580 averaged 48.3% lower than the peak scores attained by the group leaders. This isn't a great result which indicates that there are much faster alternatives on the comparison list.

CommentWe bought an Rx480 in 2016 (which was revolutionary), and the Rx580 is just a factory overclocking of the Rx480. Right now it's a great value if you can find one for $250, unfortunately because of crypto currency miners it's not a good value over $300. Last year's Rx480 crushes every game at 60+ fps at 1920x1200 (WUXGA) which is greater than 1080p, and the Rx580 is even faster !! As usual, the benchmarks on this website omit Vulcan where the Rx480 and Rx580 both Crush the NVidia 1060!! Not only that the 1060 compresses textures which produces artifacts - like watching an MPEG movie of your game - YUCK !!—Jun '17
CommentMy card was a 8GB Radeon model. The blower style fan was bad. It got so bad that I was afraid it was going to explode. The software was sometimes wonky as well.—Dec '20

Still as awesome as RX 570 which is slightly lower priced and little weaker but gamers may buy RX 570 instead when they're concerned about the budget.

A good budget option without going for the bottom of the barrel. It holds itself up well compared to the 1650S. Would recommend this if you are going for more value though.

This is one of the best GPU's for price-to-performance ratio, for sure in the top 5. I buy these cards used for around $120-$140 all the time for my builds. This card is a direct competitor to the GTX 1660. Not only is it way cheaper than the GTX 1660, it also performs better in most benchmarks.

The 200$ Contender from AMD. I have mixed feelings with this one but you can always choose the 1060 instead of this really depends on what games you are going to play

This GPU is a very popular and great choice for PC gaming during this time. It is priced competitively with the flagship NVIDIA GTX 1060, which in terms of performance, would be better than the RX 580, but the RX 580 has both 4GB models and 8GB. The 8GB model is slightly better than a GTX 1060 in most if not nearly all games. This card also has an appearance in many budget builds, due to its low price and high performance. For this age, this card is definitely strong enough to handle many new demanding titles at high settings.

The cheapest 8GB VRAM you will ever get, which makes this card particularly useful for content creators. As for games, it is legit equal to the GTX 1060 6GB version. Except that it's cheaper and also has more VRAM. Buying this over the GTX 1060 is really a no-brainer.

It seems like it's not as powerful as a 1060 overall, but with tests only ran in dx12, it performs better, making it probably more future-proof in my opinion. Probably best for 1080p, can be good for 1440p, and for some people, even its 4k performance can be tolerated

the rx 580 was my first ever gpu. came with the computer that i bought and was really good at playing practically anything. however, in certain video games such as empyreon galactic survival i would have liked a higher teir gpu to max out all the graphical settings. the only thing i would prefer over this gpu would be a gpu that can perform ray tracing for minecraft and other games of course.
